Candidate for the position of Year 3 Representative:Psychology - Rep

Fiona Gilchrist

Hi all :)

My name is Fiona and I am standing to be elected this year, I have wanted to do this since my first year at university however as this is my final year it is my last chance and I do not want to miss this opportunity.

Being a mature student, I have many years of experience working within different areas from recruitment, HR, payroll, warehouse and hospitality. Along the way, I have developed skills which I think would be beneficial to this role. These skills include listening, organising, prioritising, adaptability, accountability and communication at all levels. I will go to any length to help others and if I feel I am not able to I will do my best to point them in the right direction. I try my best to see things from other perspectives to gain a bigger picture and I will not judge anyone as I believe that no two people are the same.

I have had to face many obstacles during my time at DMU, going to university during a worldwide pandemic was tough however I made it through. WE made it through!! We got this far as we are resilient and we persevered through a very difficult time. I, like many of you, have had to overcome many difficulties, financially, mentally and physically but with our determination and resilience, we found a way through. I like to think of the pandemic in a positive way, I developed myself and found my happy place within this time. Although quite an anxious person, I worry a lot about various things, I push myself so hard and will not let it prevent me from doing what I love, helping others and self-improvement.

With my skills and determination, I believe I will be a perfect candidate for this role,

I thank you for your time in reading my manifesto and even if you don’t vote for me I wish you all the best on your journey.

Thank you

Fiona
