Candidate for the position of Year 3 Representative:History - Rep

Danielle Anslow

About me

I am Danielle Anslow, a 2nd Year History Student going into 3rd year. I view myself as someone with a thirst

for knowledge and a passion to help those around me. I am determined to manage both my time and energy into creating positive changes based on what students wish to see. It is my aim to ensure that all students enjoy University life and can access their full potential on this course.

Why Me?

I am approachable and friendly with previous experience in both leadership and support roles, implementing several successful changes both for student support and for academic improvement. I have a passion for my subject and wish to see not only the academic program be successful but its students to prosper also which makes me believe that I am an ideal candidate for this position.

What will I do?

I have many ideas as how to improve the experience of the course. I have condensed these ideas into a four-point plan.

Learning:

  • To create mixed discussion groups containing a mix of students from different seminar groups. This encouragement of group learning will take place in a Covid safe manner, utilizing technology available off campus for instance Zoom calls. Or through using on campus facilities such as available rooms using the minimum of 1m social distancing and the requirement of face masks.

Community:

  • To encourage more student participation in local history projects, bringing together students from different courses to research on different areas of study.

Communication:

  • To encourage active involvement in university life, and both listening to and initiating the changes that you want to see.

Health and wellbeing:

  • To increase awareness of the health services available, whilst also exploring methods to better support students on campus.
