Hi all,
My name is Lai Yen Cheung. I am standing to be elected as a year 4 pharmacy student representative. Being a student representative would be an honour as it is a chance to represent my fellow peers in anything they are experiencing as students.
In addition, this is a very exciting opportunity that I am keen to be involved with. Over the years I have seen the importance of the role of a Student Rep and the impact they can have on student's experience at university and this year I wanted to be involved in this new experience. I want to become a Student Rep in order to try a new opprotunity and challenge to help me grow and develop, and I am also looking forward to meeting new people.
I believe I have the skills to allow me to be a successful candidate as I have previously participated in being one of the leaders in a music project and I understand the importance of working in a team environment. Furthermore, I have been involved with voluntary works in care homes which has improved my organisation skills. Additionally, I play a competitive sport and I have also previously worked as a mentor outside of DMU and currently peer mentoring year 1 pharmacy students which allows me to have a flexible approach to different situations and has improved my problem-solving skills.
