Candidate for the position of Year 4 Representative:MA International Film Production - Rep
Carolina Rodrigues
Why me?
I will stand for:
-
More PG opportunities when it comes to industry based practical projects. DMU is obliged to help future graduates obtain valuable experiences, that will be essential once inside the film industry.
-
More skilled guest lectures from different backgrounds, and who are still active in the industry. DMU should provide tools that can allow students to get into the qualified job market.
I will pursue:
-
Access to university facilities and computers capable of editing efficiently our projects, without crashing.
-
More diversity when it comes to the projects picked in 2 semester.
-
More industry based lessons, with realistic, recent and relevant examples.
-
More detailed feedback. As a PG student it's important to understand objectively the reason behind a mark ,and pursue a complaint in case of "possible unfairness".
I will insist on:
-
Restructure the course modules and it's evaluation, based on student's feedback and previous experiences.
-
Defending students needs and complaints about how the course works and the people involved in it.
Why should this campaign matter to you?
-
This is our opportunity to improve our education and the system behind it, and demand a product closer to what we have been paying for. It's also a possibility to implement changes and promote ideas that could be beneficial for future students. As creatives and filmmakers it's our education and future jobs on the line here.
What can I that no-one else can?
-
I can be the voice that speaks louder, and refuses to be silent. We are here united by this common cause, which is education, and a passion for filmmaking, regardless of the area you wish to pursue in the future. We are in a carer that demands team work, long hours, compromise, artistic freedom, sacrifice and a lot of ambition. But there's no point in wanting something, complaining or even rolling our eyes, if we are not willing to put in the work required for ideas to be heard, people to be moved, and realities to be changed. That is what I propose here: opportunity to lead in this journey though professional development and improvement of the course and University we all chose
