Hello everyone,
My name is Demilade Ogunsalu and I am a fourth-year undergraduate in the Business and Law faculty. I am running for the position of the course representative for Accounting and Finance because I want to reignite the importance of students amid current circumstances and ensure the voices of all students are heard and represented. Being a final year student returning from an industrial placement, I believe I have a genuine interest in my chosen path, with the skills and experience needed to serve as the virtual link between staff and fellow students.
If I have the privilege of being your representative on the student council, I will strive to ensure:
-
The well-being of students is prioritised in the university by providing solutions that make student life easier. For example, requesting the university authority subsidise students for printing costs.
-
The voices of my coursemates are heard and reflected in faculty activities.
-
There is transparency between decisions made and students, detailing how they may be affected.
-
The decisions made by the council are unbiased and of benefit to all undergraduates, such as career opportunities or university-led initiatives directly affecting students.
To fulfil these goals, I will utilise my passion and outgoing personality as a tool to establish that students’ needs are listened to as it relates to their learning, like providing resources needed to make their final year worthwhile. I will use my previous experiences from working as part of the planning committee in a corporate world, to complete various duties dedicated to the gain of students. I will always be openminded to receiving feedback on ways to best support students and expand my knowledge as I carry out my responsibilities.
If given this opportunity, I would count it as an honour to spread positivity during these uncertain times.
Demi
