Hi everyone,
My name is Josie Dunne and I am a first year undergraduate studying Nutrition. Although I am standing to be elected as Student Representative I believe that role would belong to every single one of us Nutrition students, with everyone’s voice being equally important and valued.
My aims would be to;
Ensure Nutrition students have an open and non-judgemental platform to discuss and express ideas where everyone is welcome, encouraged and feels able to contribute.
Listen to all thoughts and ideas about our course, modules and student life and feed these back to the appropriate platforms to try and make positive changes.
Attend Programme Management Boards and Academic Committees throughout the year to make sure Nutrition Students are represented. Nutrition is one of the smaller and newer courses within the Health and Life Sciences Faculty and I believe it is vital to make sure we are heard.
To implement regular study and revision groups via the virtual classroom on blackboard and social media platforms where (despite the unusual circumstances of COVID-19) we can encourage, support and get to know each other and also raise the profile of Nutrition within the university and pursue our passion for the subject.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I would be honoured to represent you during the coming year and to be given an opportunity to make a positive impact on our experience at DMU. Most importantly, no matter the results of the election, I am so excited to be a part of our faculty and studying with you all. I look forward to getting to know everyone!
