Candidate for the position of Year 1 Representative:Midwifery September Intake - Rep
Naomi Gayle
I'm Naomi and I'm standing for election as course representative because I want to ensure that the views of our whole cohort are voiced effectively and heard by our faculty, DMU and leadership team.
As the Yr1 Midwifery Cohort Representative I would make sure...
-
I'm accessible to *everyone* in the cohort.
-
That all ideas, views, opinions and suggestions are taken seriously, no matter how small.
-
I'd bring the thoughts and suggestions of the cohort in front of those in leadership and communicate them in a confident, clear and effective manner.
-
That I keep you informed of any decisions or changes that are made which directly affect you.
I'm classed as a "mature" student since I'm not fresh out of A-levels! I went to university in the '90's before embarking on a successful career in logitsics and I've also co-founded a Coach Travel Company. Organisational skills have always been essential to managing a busy work and family life. I believe my experiences so far such as negotiating contracts, implementing workplace changes and raising a family have helped me develop effective listening and communication skills which I would use as a course rep.
I'm a single mum and spend a lot of my time with my four teenage/adult children supporting them through their own university journies & life events. My house (pre-covid) was always buzzing with their friends and I'd like to think I have an ability to relate to others regardless of age. I would consider it a privilege to serve my cohort and to represent them to the best of my ability. Equally I will be supportive of any others that are elected since I love to see people stepping out and developing themselves.
Thank you for considering me :-)
Naomi
