Hi
My name is Georgie Jarmolkiewicz and I am a second year contour fashion student. I am standing to be elected as the student representative of Contour Fashion Y2. I really believe we are lucky to have such a great faculty and course, and I would be delighted to ensure we all get the absolute best out of this experience by making sure everyone feels they have someone they can come to, if they want help voicing a concern or a recommendation. This year is bound to be one of a few bumps, following corona, however in standing as your student rep I would aim to minimise these by encouraging and facilitating back and forth dialogue between students and faculty, which I have already intiated by actively taking part in organising a bi-weekly discussion over Microsoft Teams.
In addition, I know lots of people who, especially due to corona, have struggled with their mental health over the past year and are concerned about how this might affect their work. I've taken some time to research resources I can direct you to, and I'd really like, as your course rep, for you to feel like there is space for you to have struggles of your own without work immediately being impacted. I have several ideas for how as the complete contour department; students and faculty, we can facilitate these discussions, and open that dialogue to ensure better understanding and considerations on both sides.
I am an approachable and open minded individual, and I can promise that I'll take time and put effort in wherever needed to find creative solutions to improve everyone's experience.
