Olly for Psychology!

Hi, I'm Olly and I'm running to be representative for first year psychology.

It's been a challenging start to the academic year, with many students being left with an anticlimactic end to their studies at colleges or sixth forms. However, with the right ideas and motivations, I know we can make the most of this year and use the online learning to our advantage.

A bit about me

I'm a mature student, but only 21 so not that old. A keen musician and lover of rock. I've spent the past few years working as a teaching assistant and a civilian instructor in the air cadets. Self-proclaimed Netflix connoisseur and happiest with a cup of tea, a good book, working with animals or climbing. 

So why vote me?

After sixth form I felt that going straight to uni to carry on in education wasn't right for me, that I needed some time away from it, so instead I went and worked in a college, ironic I know. Working as a teaching assistant for those years greatly developed my confidence in communicating between both students and staff members, acting almost as the middle man between them. I feel this is something I can use to help all of us get the best out of this year by being the voice between all of us and our lecturers, getting across ideas and questions. I also want to create ways of making learning online more engaging for everyone such as setting up student run revision groups in order to help everyone discuss the content and get to know each other better.   

We're all in new and untested waters, so let’s make the most of it and ace this year!
