Hi all

My name is Beatriz Neves: a second-year economics and finance student from Portugal. Here you will find my manifesto as I nominate myself to be the course representative of BSc (Hons) Economics and Finance.

As a course representative, I will aim to ensure that you as a DMU Economics and Finance student feel included in the decisions which directly impact you. I believe it is essential to us, as students, to look back at our time at De Montfort University with great fondness believing the university ensured that our time and money were properly invested.

About myself:

• Last year, I achieved a first-class which proves my personality as a hard-worker.

• During the summer, I have been doing an online internship for a Wall Street hedge fund.

• I am currently a student ambassador at DMU.

Goals that I want to achieve this year:

1. Making sure that we have quality career support, as well as mental health support. Believe me, it is really hard to deal with internships rejections. Doing an application can take between 40min to 1 hour, since you need to adapt your cv to every single company (to be more successful), fill in the company's online application system and sometimes do online tests. That's why it is so hard to deal with rejection due to the amount of time and effort that you put into it. Therefore, I want to create an advisory team of professors for each career related to our course.

2. Increase the number of projects related to our modules for the ones that pretend to improve their CVs with some voluntary research projects.

3. Any other aspect that you feel it is important to improve. I will be happy to represent your objectives.
