Hi, my name is Thelma Oti and I am running for this position because I would like to see changes and I would like to see students getting their voices heard which would make their university experience better. We pay so much for our tuition fees, so it makes sense for us students to get the best.
If elected as your representative of 2nd year I would aim to ensure that:
• Listening to your voices and being an active member of your university life, taking active measures to initiate the changes you want to see.
• Decisions made by the council are to the benefit of all undergraduates.
• Enhance transparency and communication between students and us student reps.
• To increase undergraduate, LGBT and BLM students participation and awareness. To do so I will improve communications between those student bodies and the union. I hope to set up open forums, working groups and awareness mechanisms to support them.
• Striving to keep you up-to-date with how the University is and improving and developing. By keeping you involved, you will be able to understand why things to continue to enhance the relationship and unity of the University and student body.
• Devoting time to student rep meetings and meeting students on both campuses where they are. By doing this I will stay informed of the current issues you have and be able to help instigate measured changes.
I will use my previous experience as the student rep in the first year. As well as this, I will endeavour to give you opportunities to inform me of what I can do to improve your experience – because you know best what you want to change.
