My name is Megan, but most people call me Meg, Megs or nurse! I am a second-year Adult Nursing student at DMU. My background is as a nursing assistant in accident and emergency.
I am approachable, confident and friendly. I have really enjoyed my time as a student nurse thus far, although I am sure I won’t be alone in admitting the last several months have been challenging for us all.
In fact, I am applying for this position because I was inspired by the support that we, as nursing students, gave to each other when everything around us seemed so turbulent. I would love to be able to capture the essence of this and facilitate it in growing as we move from the first year to second year.
I am determined to contribute my time and energy to create positive changes that nursing students deserve. I know the realities of student life and working life (hello fellow HCA’s!) and would like to represent your voices.
I will listen to you and be an active member of your university life, taking measures to initiate the changes you want to see.
I will strive to keep you up-to-date with how the University is improving and developing. By keeping you involved, you will be able to understand why things change and how this will affect you.
I will devote time to student rep meetings to discuss current issues you might have and feedback to you.
Ultimately I want you to be able to see me as a figure of trust. I am discreet and understanding when dealing with sensitive issues – I would want to make you all feel secure in confiding your concerns in me. I promise that I would work hard to improve your experience as a student nurse.
