Candidate for the position of Year 3 Representative:Speech and Language Therapy - Rep

Tess Power

Hello! I'm Tess and I'm running for next year's course representative position!

I've absolutely loved first and second year on the course, and am so eager to learn and apply more skills over the next and final one! Having a small year group has meant I've gotten to know you all a bit more, and have been able to ask others for help with assessments and feedback easily.

As course representative I pledge to:

- Create a shared online resource base, alongside other year course reps, for students and staff to post articles/books/news stories related to a range of SLT areas. This will enable easier access to assessment/exam relevant resources and general reading.

- Discuss with staff and the careers and employability team to plan a DMU Global trip. Whether with our partners Yellow House, or a European SLT hub, I want all students to have equal opportunities to be a part of a subsidised trip and expand career based learning.

- Encourage all SLT students to join the SLT society. Using your individual skills to help with fundraising events, awareness talks, or committee positions are all great in developing personal and professional skills, as well as forming relationships with other year students.

- Create anonymous feedback surveys around Christmas time for suggestions on module structures/ running of lectures/ assessment hand-ins and feedback/ support. This enables any urgent or popular changes to be made quickly rather than at the end of the year.

I'm very much open to suggestions on how to enhance your learning and get the most out of your university experience.

Thank you for reading, and I hope to represent you next year!
