Who am I?
I am Carlos Rocha; I am a second-year Psychology BSc (Hons). I started studying at DMU in Sep/2017 to have my foundation year. Due to my knowledge and experience around DMU, this is why I am running to be the 3rd year Psychology students representant.
How will I help you?
o I am a very hardworking, responsible, and trustworthy person; I would do everything I could to help you if you encounter problems or have any queries about your course or certain modules.
o Being a friendly and approachable person, I would also love to assist you if you have any questions, which may be more personal.
o Work with our student union to address some issues in special minorities groups from Psychology, such as LGBTQ+, Mature, International, Women, BAME (black, Asian and minority ethnic) students.
o Work to improve communication and understanding between Supervisors/Personal Tutor and students.
Why ME in particular?
- I have been a committee of the DMU Psychology Society for two years (As Events Coordinator and Health and Safety Officer), which helped me to build experience and know some of staffs/lecturers
- I am Brazilian but have lived in many different countries and speak several languages – I am therefore very open-minded to people from different nationalities and cultures which is obviously necessary when studying Psychology, and I think this also makes me ideal for the role.
