Hello, the first thing people notice is my surname, my family tend to shorten it to Chara, I am running for one of the six 3rd year Computer Games Programming Course Representative slots since I have not really done much in terms of societies and in this case not really had much contact with people on the course, this will not only allow me to meet people on the course who I may not have spoken to before, but also allow you to find out more about me.
Putting the societal part to one side, on the skills and ability aspect of the role I can provide people with an able representative who will get your views across to the staff on how the course can be improved or how the course is doing this correctly so that they can expand upon them. Being an Army Reservist I work well in a team, so I will be able to work well with the other reps and staff to hopefully make the experience of being a CGP student better. Again, a little plug for the Army, the core values taught are “Courage, Discipline, Respect for others, Integrity, Loyalty, Selfless commitment”, Courage and Loyalty may not apply in this situation, however the other four can apply.
I will have the Discipline to ensure that I conduct myself professionally when in the course rep role (includes when I wear any apparel that links me to the DSU), having the Respect for others to listen and convey information back and forth between staff and students, Integrity to ensure my actions match my words, I will have Selfless commitment to the role and take it on because I believe I can fulfil the role.
