Candidate for the position of Year 2 Representative:Business Management and Economics - Rep

Ebitimi Imomotebegha

I am vying for the role of Second Year course representative for Business Management and Economics students for various reasons, but I would like to highlight three main reasons.

The first reason is to help build connections and encourage communications among BME students. Coming into the First Year of University, some of you may agree that we were not given enough opportunity to interact with other students studying BME. This was mainly because it is a Joint degree, but I’d like to change that by creating a platform that would encourage all of us to communicate among ourselves. This may give room for a joint library study or assistance from other course mates.

The second reason is to give them a voice by representing Business management and Economics students effectively during meetings. First Year, there was no course representative for BME students, and I would like to change that for the second year by becoming one. I believe that I am in a better position to do this because I would be able to gather their opinions and represent them.

The last reason I would like to highlight is my personal experience. I have taken on some significant roles at DMU that I believe will provide me with the skills to represent BME students successfully. Roles ranging from Volunteering at DMU events and other places in Leicester to being the incoming International Student Representative at De Montfort University.

I hope all this will convince you that I am a suitable candidate for this role.
