As Welfare Executive at DSU, my policies will improve the university experience of all students at DMU. I am committed to enabling every student to enjoy university life, having access to immediate, appropriate support for any difficulties.

I have considerable experience in supporting anxious adults and children through my ongoing work on high-ropes courses. Family experience of mental health issues reminded me of how hard it can be when you or a friend are struggling. Mental Health First-aiders will be trained to support students in times of need. The current wait for counselling is one month; my offer of mental health drop-in sessions guarantees confidential, free support immediately. I will also increase awareness of mental health through focus weeks and regular discussions, including self-help strategies and support for friends experiencing difficulties.

Starting university can be nerve-racking. My solution: university survival skill sessions at DSU, including cooking - not just offered to Freshers, but all students, encouraging healthy lifestyles. I plan to ease stress in moving to the university through tours of Leicester and campus. I aim to reduce anxiety for all students starting their DMU journey.

Accommodation advice: I will increase housing support and awareness of students’ accommodation options. I want to offer much easier access to information, so students can make informed decisions on what is best for them. I propose more talks from DSU staff on housing during the year and quicker appointments with specialist housing Advisers.

The Mandala Project will be expanded to ensure all students are fully committed to the principles. I will raise awareness and keep everyone fully informed about the vital project. I will increase phone access hours and provide a dedicated email service.

My commitment is to represent your needs in DSU, keeping the wellbeing of every single student my priority.
