I am currently a second-year student – I currently hope to pursue a Masters and PhD in law, focusing on transitional justice. I am from Northern Ireland - so naturally I'm a friendly person, who could strike up a conversation with anyone. I’m currently a Student Trustee of DSU, this means that when it comes to representation of students on campus, I already use my voice to advocate for students’ interests. I was elected as Course Rep this year and have worked hard to ensure that my peers’ concerns and issues have been raised, additionally, I’m always willing to direct students to the correct staff member if they would prefer to deal with a matter themselves.

It is no secret that the outside world for law graduates is competitive beyond measure - that is why I believe it is key that as students, we are receiving the best education we can, to give ourselves the best opportunity to succeed. This is an easy statement to make. But with the projects I work on, namely the Society of Black Law Students, collectively we can ensure that our degree is providing us with the key skills we need to make us as employable as possible in outside world. It also has to be said that Law is a broad area; not everyone wants to be a solicitor; nor does everyone even particularly want to practice law afterwards - there's a variation of opportunities, and I believe our course should provide us with the skills and tools we need to make that informed decision for ourselves.
