Candidate for the position of Second Year Computer Science - Rep

Darren Adeboyejo

My name is Darren Adeboyejo, I am an undergraduate student running for the role of Computer Science Course Representative. I have decided to run for this position because I believe my skills make me an ideal candidate. For example, I have lots of experience in team work, because of this I understand the value of everyone’s opinions and the importance of even the smallest role when working towards a large goal. I have also have experience with negotiating, such a skill would be useful when attempting to find a solution that adequately solves everyone’s issues.

If elected as the Course Rep for Computer Science, there are a few goals that I plan to work towards during my time in this position. The first being to improve the delivery of course content based on the suggestions of students taking the course. So far, the delivery of the Computer Science course has been very good, but I believe that all good things can still be improved.

My second goal as Course Rep is to act as an intermediate body between the students and the staff. By this I mean that students can approach me with any issues and I will help them to the best of my ability. In the case that an issue is beyond my capability I will ensure they are referred to the right person. This will benefit students as I am likely to be available more often than most staff and they may feel more comfortable discussing certain issues with a fellow student.

The third goal is to increase communication between students by holding events throughout the year centred around team building.
