Candidate for the position of Third Year Psychology - Rep

Cheng-De Man

Being a director in a small start-up company and a course rep for the last 2 years I have been readily equipped with the skill sets to become a good course rep. Having developed communication skills in the working environment, such as, ensuring I gather feedback from customers and employees alike has helped me tackle problems and make change. The development of team working skills helps me ensure to find a compromise to help solve issues as well. Giving students a voice through feedback is an essential part in academic development and wellbeing in students. It can help benefit both lecturers and students alike where they create a positive learning environment through feedback to help make the learning experience more engaging and positive. For instance, more textbooks were bought by the library due to students saying they needed more resources for the core textbooks. So, with student feedback this could help increase the quality of the academic course for present and future students. If I was elected to become student rep I would try and push for lecture note gaps to be re-implemented in the lectures and push for more spreading of deadlines across the academic year. I would love to finish off my last 2 years of works trying to push for student issues with one last year as your student rep!
