De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) and DMUSport would like to remind all students that neither De Montfort University (DMU), DMUSport or DSU endorse ‘tour’ activity.
It is a breach of the DMU’s Student Code of Conduct and DMU’s Student Social Media Policy for any person to bring the University in to disrepute.
For clarification, this includes where appropriate, misleading (or holding out) others under the name of ‘De Montfort University’, ‘University of De Montfort’, ‘DMU’ and/or the ‘De Montfort Students’ Union’ by displaying, advertising or announcing DMU’s or DSU’s name publicly (including on social media platforms) for any events or activities (including trips abroad) that has not been condoned or granted authorisation by DMU or DSU for such an event or activity.
In addition, DMU and DSU has property rights in its logo and marks meaning advanced permission to use them must be obtained from the University, DSU or designee prior to use.
Failure to adhere to the Student Code of Conduct will force the university to take the appropriate disciplinary action.
Students are referred to the Formal Disciplinary Code within ‘The General Regulations and Procedures Affecting Students 2018/19’ which states these procedures can lead to expulsion, suspension, restrictions and formal reprimands depending on the severity of the breach.
DMU and DSU will bear no liabilities for events and activities which were not preordained and pre-authorised by the University. It is the student’s responsibility to confirm if DMU has authorised such an event or activity before paying for or taking part in such events or activities. Students must obtain advice from their respective faculties to seek guidance on whether the event or activity in question has been approved and is run by DMU or DSU.
