Next Monday 18 January sees the launch of ReFreshers Week at De Montfort Students’ Union, as we welcome DMU’s newest students and get reacquainted with those returning for their second term.
Adele Clarke, Marketing and Communications Manager at DSU, and coordinator of ReFreshers, said: “The whole premise of ReFreshers Week is to welcome students that have started in January, and also to re-welcome current students that have come back after Christmas, and reintroduce everything that their students’ union does, helping our members have a successful second term.”
Monday is the ReFreshers Fair, taking place in Level 1 on the first floor of the Campus Centre, where a number of national and local businesses will be on hand with freebies and discounts, ensuring it’s an event that you won’t want to miss!
There will also be a number of sports teams and societies for students who are looking to find out more about student activities at DSU.
Adele said: “It’s a bit like Freshers’ Fair, in the sense that we’ve got local businesses giving away loads of freebies. Domino’s Pizza are going to be there, Lloyd’s Bar are going to be there, Mission Burrito, loads of different things.
“We’ve also got loads of societies there at stands where you can talk to them and community groups as well, so there’s lots of volunteering stands.
“There’ll be approximately 40 stalls, and you can walk round, speak to people, sign yourself up for stuff and get involved in those kind of opportunities and best of all grab a load of freebies.”
Adele said that ReFreshers Week is a great chance to find out more about what DSU does and what it has to offer the students at DMU.
She said: “It’s a great way to start the year off, finding out more about your students’ union, and all the amazing activities and opportunities that we have on offer.”
