If Boris can do it, so can I

My name is Aggie, and I am running to be your next Equality and Diversity Executive. This is my third year at our university, studying Politics and International Relations.

Alongside of my studies I have worked as a lifeguard and a waitress, this has shaped me to be a motivated hard worker. Growing up as an immigrant in England, has enabled me to relate to many people that come to De Montfort.

My aims:

  • Student Involvement:
To help students to make the most of the opportunities that are provided by the university.  Get the students that are not in societies to be involved more in the student life beyond going out. I want students to engage with all the options that the university offers, from volunteering to workshops, to trips.
Using the 13th Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), I want to create workshops that will educate students about more sustainable and eco-friendly life.

  • Student’s Voice:

I believe that students go through a very important and yet difficult time period during their time at university. That is why I want to make sure that with correct advertising and campaign it will be clear that they can come to the student union for help and advice. Even though their voices may be whispers, I want to be the one who will make some noise and support.

  • I’m a great believer in people learning about other cultures as this expands our understanding and compassions towards each other. With this in mind, I want to create student led workshops that educate and encourage people to learn about all of our diversities. Creating a safe space were people can talk and ask questions. This will benefit students greatly as they will understand each other better.
