Joanna Dine-Hart

Hi lovely people! I’m Joanna, a third-year Business Entrepreneurship and Innovation student (yes, it is a mouthful!)

Over the past three years, I have been a Course Representative, Chair of Student Council and a part of Pole Fitness and Acapella society, so I’m not afraid to make a song and dance about anything we want changing.

If elected, I will:

  1. Introduce a breakdown of where and how student finance is spent.
  2. Clarify attendance issues; what missing a lecture does to your attendance and the time constraints of scanning in.
  3. Work with the University to change the module structure; have termly modules instead of rushing to complete them all throughout the year and use this to work on timetabling for students and staff to reduce stress, aid planning and preparation.
  4. Start a student-oriented message board so students can meet other people on their courses before studying. This could also help reduce anxiety and group work stress as students would know others before starting University and completing assignments.
  5. Implement a policy for there to be at least 72 hours between assignment deadlines.
  6. Collaborate with DMUGlobal to work on making academic trips less module restricted, and open to more students.
  7. Work with Course Representatives and the Students' Union to ensure students know the opportunities and events available to them at DMU.
  8. Aim to improve recycling facilities within student accommodation and around campus to benefit DMU's sustainability policies.

I hope I can represent your ideas as a Union Development Executive and work towards making your university experience the best it can be.

Your voice, your Union, your change!
