Candidate for the position of Second Year Rep Law, Human Rights and Social Justice

Liam Sutton

During my time at DMU, so far, I’ve come to notice that not all students feel they have a voice when it comes to recommendations, requiring help and putting forward complaints. Some because they feel they won’t be taken seriously, some because they’re simply too shy. I want to make sure that each student feels comfortable in coming forward, whatever the issue, and having it resolved to a standard they deem sufficient.  If you’re having an issue on your course, I want to take that stress off of your shoulders and make sure you are represented correctly and efficiently. This role is very important to me, not because of its transferability, but because having a voice is a privilege that not all of us have. I want to help bridge the gap, make sure that no matter what your sex, gender, race, sexuality, disability etc. is, your voice is heard just as loudly as the next persons. For me, if a problem is affecting you personally it is neither too big nor too small to be dealt with. Each and every one of your votes would mean the world; I hope you see me to be the great course representative that I want to be for you.
