Welcome to the DMUactive page!
DMUactive is a free weekly recreational sport and fitness programme that runs throughout the academic year and is open to all staff and students at DMU. The programme creates an inclusive environment that is free from commitment for those who want to exercise, keep fit, play sport, and look after their wellbeing. Whether you are returning to sport/fitness activity or have never taken part before, our sessions cater to all abilities.
What sessions are available?

As part of the weekly timetable, there is a range of free sport and fitness sessions, from Basketball to Zumba, there is something for everyone! Take a look at the current DMUactive timetable below:
Please note that due to the current pandemic the DMUactive timetable will be changing regularly in accordance with guidance that is published by the government and NGB’s. We appreciate your patience as we work to ensure that our sessions are as safe and engaging as they can be. You can make sure that you have the correct timetable by checking at the top which term and version the timetable is.
Do I need to sign-up to attend a session?
Due to the pandemic, you will have to sign up to attend a DMUactive session this academic year. You can do so by visiting MyGateway and sessions will be able to be booked 6 days in advance of the session taking place. Please note that sign-ups of a session will close 2 hours prior to the session taking place or if it is a weekend session, 4 pm on a Friday.
To sign up for a session, please follow the below guidance:
Log in to MyGateway
Search the session(s) that you would like to take part in that week by clicking on ‘all events’ at the top of the page. Then you can click onto ‘events’ and click the drop-down menu to ‘DMUactive’ to select your session, or you can type the session into the Keywords search bar. Such as ‘Soccerise’.
You then just need to click onto the session and press book.
If you no can no longer attend a session, please cancel your space on the session via MyGateway. This allows for someone else to take part in the session because once a session is fully booked a waiting list will be created. If someone cancels, then the next person on the waiting list will be invited to attend the session.
Please note that at all DMUactive sessions, you must scan the track and trace QR code that is at the facility (if DMU owned) or that is provided by the activator delivering the session. If you have any questions about where a QR code is located at a session, please ask the activator or coach who is leading the session.
What do I need to bring/wear?
All you need to wear is some comfortable clothing and footwear.
Bring your DMU staff or student card – you will need this to be able to access the facilities/sessions.
Equipment is provided, or if you have your own, feel free to bring it along.
Face Mask - you will have to wear one whilst walking around the facility and into your session.
Bring a bottle of water to help you keep hydrated throughout the session. Water fountains are available at all facilities.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions predominantly take place right here on campus at DMU’s Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Leisure Centre and Watershed Facility. You can check out where they are located here.
Our Tennis session on a Sunday takes place at a local Tennis Centre which is around a 15-minute walk. A walking bus led by our DMUactive Tennis activator leaves from outside the Campus Centre at 5 pm.
Is there anyone at the sessions to help me?
The DMUactive sessions are delivered by over 20 student activators, known as DMUactive activators, and 3 DMUactive coaches. Our activators and coaches are on hand at every session to help make sure that you have a great time and help you out with whatever you need.
