VP Student Activities Candidate

I am a final year Biomedical Science student and the current Student choir and Steppers Chair. In my first year, I was part of the Steppers and ACS. In second year, I was the vice president of the ACS and helped set up the Student choir and became the Vice of that too and was also nominated as society personality of the year. Last year, I undertook a placement year, but maintained my contact with DMU and various societies.  Because of my ongoing involvement with societies, I became aware of the issues societies face and that many people didn’t know what happened in DSU, including its relevance to them. I don’t know about you but I hated the fact that I didn’t know my classmates in lectures but feared talking to people randomly would make me seem ‘weird’. I wanted events and opportunities to engage with them, but there wasn’t any. This concern fuelled my aspiration to become VP and help change that.

My main aim is to increase integration and student involvement in activities, societies and to give every student the opportunity to be part of something great and create memories for a lifetime. If elected I will:

  • Increase Support to Societies
  • Establish Inter-Faculty Events and Competitions
  • Conduct University Athletics Games
  • Increase performing arts Events
  • Increase Female Participation in Sports
  • Increase Society and University Integration

We all had a dream of coming to university and meeting people from all around the world but found that it was all in fact a “dream”. You want a candidate who knows how societies and DSU work, is able to effectively engage with the university bosses and implement change and most importantly has a passion to make student life more memorable. I believe I am that candidate.  #Time4Change #Time2Integrate
