Name: Joe Claessen
Subject Studying: Electronic Engineering
Started the season with the 3rds but made the step up when both 1st and 2nd team keepers were injured. He has played brilliantly and stayed with the squad ever since. A very big personality within the entire club, socially and on the field.
Name: Ryan Dawson
Subject Studying: Law
Was a member of last year’s first team putting in a solid performance in the 2-1 varsity win at the King Power. Ryan has been missing from the squad for a few months this year but has come back in the past few weeks putting in a good performance in a friendly against Aylestone Park FC recently and is fighting for a place in the squad.
Name: Chris Andersen
Subject Studying: Computing for Business
Aka ‘Kimi’ due to his resemblance of formula 1 driver Kimi Raikkonen is our very own Scandinavian full back. Originally from Norway ‘Kimi’ is now a key member of the squad with a keen eye for goal as an attacking full back and he made the step up from the 2nds at the start of the season.
Name: Luke Taylor
Position: Centre Back
Subject Studying: Film Studies
Luke is one of a few freshers in the team and has impressed from the outgo ever since trials. A solid centre half who loves to get his head on the ball and a good tackler but is also very calm on the ball and always looks to play out from the back. Luke has been a great addition to the club socially and on the pitch being a constant presence at all training sessions and social events.
Name: Josh Solomon
Subject Studying: Criminology
Another fresher to make the grade this year, Josh is a very versatile player and started out on the wing but has been moved back to defence where he has proven to be very successful in doing a job for the team.
Name: Joe Taylor
Subject Studying: English Language and Communications
One of the old timers in the squad, Joe is a third year that has been with the first team since his trials in his fresher year. A member of the squad in the 2012 dramatic varsity win and then promoted to a starting position the following year, Joe has two varsity wins at the King Power under the belt and is hungry for more. Has been ever present at left back for the past 2 seasons, also joint managing the team last season.
Name: Geraint Price
Position: Defensive Midfield/Centre Back
Subject Studying: Business Management and Economics
Managing the team for the second season in a row Geraint is also a veteran of the 1st team, having been with them from the get go in first year. Having struggled with a few injuries during his DMUFC career Geraint has still managed to play in both the epic varsity wins over the past 2 years. He will be leading the team out this year and having not scored since his debut he is hungry for a goal in this year’s game.
Name: Simeon Owen
Position: Centre back
Subject Studying: Electronic Engineering
Simeon is another fresher who impressed at trials this year. Came straight into the back four and has played well for us. Although hindered by a couple of injuries during the middle part of the season he has come back strong and in recent training sessions and games has looked good.
Name: Dan Winney
Subject Studying: Business and Marketing
This is Dan’s second year in the first team squad and he is a vital member of the midfield. Having spent most of the time on the bench last year and being an impact player, Dan has stepped up to the plate this year and has started every game in the heart of Midfield. A big personality on and off the pitch.
Name: Sam Obaseki
Subject Studying: Law and Criminal Justice
Sam impressed at trials this year earning him a spot in the 1st team squad, but since he did not step up to the potential that we know he has. However recently, he put in a good performance in a friendly against Aylestone Park FC. If he works hard he has a big future with the first team.
Name: Josh Hunt
Subject Studying: Media Technology
This is Josh’s first year with the first team and has been an ever present work horse in midfield. Josh started off with the 2nds but immediately impressed and was moved up to the firsts where he has been a great asset to the midfield.
Name: Liam Wadd
Another player to make the step up from the 2nds to the firsts this year. Waddy has moved around amongst the
midfield this year due to his ability to both put a defence shift in and attacking ability. He is the clubs social secretary and another massive personality throughout the whole club as well as the first team dressing room.
Name: Tom Wilson
Position: Attacking Midfield
Subject Studying: Animation Design
Wilson is hungry this year having narrowly missed out on the varsity squad last year and is ready to prove that he’s ready. A very versatile player who can play either on the wings or in midfield Wilson is a work horse along with being a senior member of the squad.
Name: Scott Stirk
Subject Studying: Business and Management
Having spent last year on placement Scott came straight back into the first team fold to retake his place on the wing. Scott is hungry for another memorable game this year having scored the dramatic 89th minute equaliser in the 2012 varsity win.
Name: Hayden Clottey
Another player to step up from the 2nds last year Hayden has put in number of good performance on the wing this year. Full of pace and eager to take on the fullback Hayden has a great engine and will put in a shift for the team.
Name: Nathan Studholme
Subject Studying: Advertising and Marketing Communications
Aka Studs is the DMUFC chairman this year and has put in a lot of work off the pitch as well as on it. Made the step up from the 2nds this year having started his DMUFC career with the 3rds Studs has been a great addition to the squad. Always puts in a shift either up top or on the wing Studs is a vital senior member of the squad.
Name: Liam Coleman
Position: Centre Forward
Subject Studying: English Literature and English Language
Having spent last year as the 3rd team manager Coleman has also made the step up to the first team this year. He has spent the majority of the season on the bench and coming on as an impact player. However he is very calm on the ball and has a great touch.
Name: Ralph Clarke
Ralph is the newest addition to the squad having spent the first half of the season with the 2nds. He impressed the first team management as was brought up just before Christmas. He provides a different option due to his power and size and also has a great touch.
