De Montfort Students' Union - Campus Centre

Aliya Khan, the 2022/23 Welfare Executive, has left De Montfort Students’ Union and will not be returning to post. With only a few months left of the academic year, it was not deemed necessary to fill this role as the four remaining  Executive Officers, supported by staff, will be able to cover their duties.

As Aliya had recently been re-elected as Welfare Executive for the 2023/24 academic year, work has begun to fill this post for July onwards. The position was offered to the candidate who polled the next highest number of votes within the same election, however the candidate did not accept the role. A by-election will now be held to elect a new Welfare Executive for 2023/24.

Confirmation of the Welfare Executive by-election dates, including the nominations and voting period will be circulated in May. These dates will be published on our website at least 5 days before the nominations open.

Students’ Union staff and current elected officers are working hard to ensure the role will be filled in the fairest way to represent De Montfort University students.
