In the latest round of BUCS fixtures, DSU’s sides recorded six wins and three draws in what was a busy and difficult week of games.
The leading result of the day was men’s football firsts’ 11-1 drubbing of University of Derby seconds as they continued their quest for the league title.
Also amongst the half-a-dozen victors were men’s tennis, enjoying a 4-2 win against cross-city rivals University of Leicester, netball thirds, triumphing 30-20 over Anglia Ruskin seconds, and women’s hockey seconds, winning 2-0 against University of Bedford seconds, all at home.
Away from home, men’s badminton put local rivals UoL to the sword with a 7-1 win, and making up the six was women’s rugby, who beat University of Warwick firsts with a 21-17 win, but sadly their counterparts in men’s firsts couldn’t repeat the heroics of the previous week, slipping to a 13-0 defeat on home turf against University of Nottingham thirds.
Also on the wrong end of the scoreboard were netball seconds away at Nottingham Trent fourths, suffering a 54-16 loss, and mixed golf 6-0 away at Newman University.
Sharing the points were men’s hockey firsts 1-1 with Oxford Brookes thirds, men’s football fourths 1-1 with Anglia Ruskin seconds, and women’s football firsts in a goalless draw with Loughborough fourths, all on their travels.
