CHOICES - Sexual Health Clinic

Choices is ran by trained healthcare professionals from Leicestershire and Rutland Sexual Health Services. Choices is ran on Thursdays 1-4 in term time. This is via drop ins available in the DSU Advice Centre.  

Choices will provide:

  • Provision of prescribed hormonal contraceptives including LARC methods
  • Sexual health testing including Chlamydia screening and treatment
  • Emergency contraception
  • Pregnancy tests and free condoms will be available via the C Card service.

Positive links with local services, health partners, school nurses and the college team supports the CHOICES provision.

Staffing

One specialist practitioner will attend each week who is a Non-Medical Prescriber, so is able to prescribe hormonal methods of contraception, emergency hormonal contraception and sexual health screen and treatment. The qualified member of the CHOICES team will be supported by a highly qualified health care assistant who can undertake routine STI screen, pregnancy testing and pregnancy referrals and may run part of the service as a screen & go clinic.
