Candidate for the position of Second Year Software Engineering - Rep

Anood Rafi

Within college, I had been participating in different activities and programmes. I had participated in a programme called ‘Earth Angels’ where I was chosen among 18 other students to look out for other students and help them in any need. This programme has taught me variety of skills like relational skills, empathy, kindness, social adeptness, good listening skills, emotional intelligence, and self-awareness.

Also, while being at secondary school I was chosen as the school council which also led other students feel comfortable to come to me with any problems regarding any of the problems at school. Having these experiences and skills makes a perfect candidate to be a course rep. I can I play my previously  learnt skills to help anyone on my course which can also help me gain new skills.

However, in an effort to build my skills, I have participated in a campaign I work with outside of university that aims to promote peace for everyone and show people that Islam is a religion of peace and love. As part of this campaign I’ve built my team working skills as the events that are organised requires talking and discussing important topics within a group and going out into the streets of Birmingham to promote the campaign and raise money for areas and people of concern. I’ve built my communications skills and my confidence has grown massively through this campaign. I’ve met a range of new people and learnt a lot through taking part in the campaign and plan to continue to do so. This will help me approach different people and helps them in any need.
