My previous role as a Course Rep allowed me to work effectively in this position, and listen to other students feedback non-judgementally and openly. I strongly believe that I can be a positive and effective representative for coursemates due to the fact I am always willing to listen and be pro-active about situations that I am faced with, meaning that I will consistently aim to pass forward your feedback in a way that will benefit you and the course. Through being course rep in 1st year, I learned that students on my course often struggle with the clumped together deadlines at the end of the academic year, and sometimes have difficulties with building professional relationships with personal tutors and lecturers. I would like to pass forward this information and work alongside staff and student from across the university to try and resolve these issues in a way that is practical for everybody. As a Course Rep, I believe that it is vital to build trust amongst cohorts, and I aspire to build this trust through meeting regularly with those students who have feedback to pass along. In my opinion, it is essential for students to have a voice because it allows the course to be adapted to their needs, and improved for the future. If students are happy with the general workings of their course, I strongly believe they will be more likely to not only enjoy university life more, but also achieve higher in their studies.
