I am Rebecca Jarvis, a full-time Architecture Student. Throughout my time at DMU I have built friendships with many of the students from a variety of years. I am a regular attender of university so you would have seen myself around the VP building at some point. I have had a variety of work experience in Architecture at different firms. I currently have an architect’s job at a firm so understand the architecture life in a working environment. I was the student representative in my first year, so I understand the role fully and know the amount of work that is involved. This has also allowed me to become known to the tutors and DMU staff. This year, I have been on the Architecture Committee, so I have had the pleasure of knowing workers in the SU. This role allowed me to help other students on work to become successful of which was highly rewarding. I have done a variety of volunteering work from DMU India to being on the Alzheimer’s Society panel with MP’s in London.
I feel there are several issues to be resolved around the studio, including the lack of space. I intend to gain more space and storage for the students as I understand how hard it is carrying work home, especially in rain. I am happy to take on people’s opinions and propose them to the higher powers in order to get what the students require to become successful. My biggest skill is organisation so I feel this role would fit myself well.
If I was elected as this role, I would be honoured to be the voice of the students. Ensuring everyone managed to get their voice heard and that I was able to provide the support they needed. Thankyou in advance!
